Twenty-four teams qualified for the 2010 FIBA World Championship.

Here is how the 24 teams booked their tickets to Turkey:

As hosts of the competition, Turkey qualified automatically for the Championship.

The second team to qualify was the USA, who booked their ticket as gold medal winners at the Olympic basketball competition in Beijing.

18 of the 22 remaining teams qualified thanks to the FIBA Continental (Zone) Championships.

• In the 2009 FIBA Asia Championship, sixteen teams played to decide which three teams would be representing their continent. FIBA Asia’s berths went to China, Iran and Jordan l View how they qualified here
• In the 2009 FIBA EuroBasket, sixteen teams collided to fight for the six tickets to join Turkey as Europe's contenders for Basketball's top prize. FIBA Europe’s berths went to Croatia, France, Greece, Serbia, Slovenia and Spain l View how they qualified here
• In the 2009 FIBA Oceania Championship, New Zealand and Australia played each other, with both teams earning their right to play in the 2010 FIBA World Championship. FIBA Oceania’s berths went to Australia and New Zealand l View how they qualified here

Germany, Lebanon, Lithuania and Russia, were awarded the 4 wild cards by FIBA's Central Board on 12th December 2009, completing the line-up for the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey.
