Launched on 1st April 2010, the much talked about ‘Giant Get-Together’ promotional campaign – led by USA star Kobe Bryant – features giants of the international game towering above some of Turkey’s most famous landmarks.
Picture a gargantuan Bryant dribbling above the Bosphorus as wreaks havoc on the Galata Bridge, a titanic Hedo Turkoglu shaping up for a shot beside Ankara's famous Atakule Tower, Pau Gasol hunched over Izmir’s clock tower or even Tony Parker standing like a colossus in a seaside bay off the coast of Turkey.
That is what you will see in newspapers, magazines, on billboards and on television screens in the lead up to the World Championship.
The list of supersized stars who will be seen dwarfing the country’s historic sites, urban landscapes and natural wonders also includes the likes of Joel Anthony, Carlos Arroyo, Andrew Bogut, Ersan Illyasova, Yi Jianlian, Andrei Kirilenko, Dirk Nowitzki, Mehmet Okur, Luis Scola and Anderson Varejao.
The campaign, which is the result of collaboration between the Turkish Basketball Federation / 2010 LOC, Los Angeles based design and entertainment company Iconisus and FIBA, took a year to produce.
Set to be rolled out now in 14 languages across the world, the campaign is a statement and a promise – the giants are certain to generate massive shockwaves when they fight it out this summer for the most prestigious title on earth!
