Miguel LUTONDA

During his long career, Miguel Lutonda has arguably been the best combo guard in Africa, while he has also held a role as sports ambassador from Angola.

After Jean-Jacques Conçeicao, he is the most cherished player for the fans in Angola, and has even been used by the government to promote registration on the electoral list.

The two-time MVP of the FIBA Africa Championship (2001,2003), Lutonda has never been lured to a European club despite having been made several offers.

His role with the National Team has diminished somewhat as he has grown older, yet he remains an efficient long range shooter with good physical abilities.

Lutonda has played in two Olympic Games and at two FIBA World Championships.

His personal honour roll is quite impressive and reads five FIBA Africa Championships with Angola and eight Angola Championships with Primero de Agosto Luanda. At 39, he is ready to guide the Angolan national team once again and bring back the spirit that seemed to have deserted the team during the Olympics.
