Matthew DELLAVEDOVA

It has been quite a year for Matthew Dellavedova, captaining Australia at the FIBA U19 World Championship in New Zealand, making his senior international debut in the FIBA U19 World Championship, and helping lead St Mary’s University to the NCAA Tournament where they advanced to the Sweet Sixteen.

Dellavedova averaged 12ppg and 5apg in a promising debut year, being named West Coast Conference All-Freshman Team for his efforts.

At the 2009 FIBA U19 World Championship in Auckland, Dellavedova was his country’s best player, averaging 10ppg, 3rpg and 2apg, including 18 points against France in the quarter-final and 14 points and 4 assists against Croatia in the bronze medal game.

While he is an outside chance to play in Turkey, the injury to CJ Bruton has left the door slightly ajar for a young man who seems set to represent Australia for many years to come.
