If you check the 2006 FIBA World Championship Gold medal game statistics, you will understand how important Garbajosa has been, and still is for Spain.

With Pau Gasol injured, he combined for 20 points and 10 rebounds, leading Spain to the gold medal.

Garbajosa is all about commitment to the National Team. He suffered a very serious ankle injury playing for the Raptors in the NBA in March 2007, but still helped his country at EuroBasket later the same year and at the 2008 Olympic Games.

Even if he is no longer as quick and athletic as that successful day in Japan during 2006, he will help with his outstanding three-point shooting and game knowledge.

Maybe he is not a 30 minutes per game player anymore, but with his experience and his wide range of skills, he can still be a factor in any game.

He also has a great understanding of Sergio Scariolo’s game, since he played for Italian coach at Unicaja, Khimki Moscow and the coach will be delighted to once again have him in the National Team.
