It may sound even blasphemous but Viktor Khryapa is just as valuable to the National Team as Andrei Kirilenko.
Long acknowledged as a defensive staple (and now officially too, named Best Defender of the last Euroleague season), he is often underrated at the other end of the floor.
Yet when the offence stagnates for whatever reason, it is Khryapa who will just ask for the ball and create opportunities for himself and his team-mates, unafraid of making a mistake.
After a stellar Eurobasket 2007, Khryapa got unlucky with the National Team when he had to play through an injury at the Beijing Olympics and then missed Eurobasket 2009 - injured during a preparation game.
When healthy, Khryapa takes this team to another level.
