The guard wasn’t expected to travel to Poland for EuroBasket 2009 but eventually joined his team-mates and his experience in a team with many younger players was pivotal.
Solid defensively, dangerous from long-range and the kind of veteran leadership you have to love, he ticks most of the boxes for Coach Bauermann.
The only real questions surround his fitness and quickness which have evaporated slightly in recent years with injury and the inability to take the kind of long-term rest he probably needs to further extend his career.
This has been compounded by the fact he suffered a tough season mentally after being relegated from the Greek ESAKE with his club team last season.
Nevertheless, Greene remains a class act and a real anchor-man for this team if and when needed - especially if it is for his solid perimeter defence.
He will link up next month with Coach Bauermann to help spearhead the ambitious bid by Bayern Munich to achieve promotion into the top division.
