Paulius Jankunas was the last one to be cut before Eurobasket 2009 and there was no way the story will be repeating itself this time since the frontline of the Lithuanian national team has been heavily weakened by injuries.

Jankunas played abroad for the first time in his career with Khimki Moscow Region after playing through the ranks of Zalgiris Kaunas.

His numbers dropped by quite a bit  but Paulius started all of the games for the Russian side and that should be an accomplishment in itself as Khimki had a much deeper roster than Zalgiris when Jankunas played in Kaunas. Paulius is very much a model of a modern power forward – reasonably quick, can stroke it from distance and has the ability to drive to the basket as well as beat his man in a post-up.
