Savaş is from a dying breed of player – a back to the basket center.
He is strong but agile and his pivot moves are almost second to none.
He operates in a one meter square inside the paint but can turn from both sides and is a great finisher.
Also he has a great basketball mind and soft hands.
In the past two seasons he added range to his game also, as he is now a decent three-point shooter too.
So a complete package right?
Well his lateral movement is probably his only weakness and coach Tanjevic prefers leaner players who can put defensive pressure at any point on the floor. So he is in a system that doesn’t suit him, much like Mehmet Okur.
Still Savaş’s talents are impossible to ignore and he is, and for many years will be, the prime inside scorer for Turkey.
