Oshin Shakian is living proof that being able to produce big numbers on the stat sheet is no necessity – even at the highest level.

A tireless worker and the man who handles all of the intangibles so well for the National Team, the forward is a key cog in the Iran machine.

His offensive limitations are not a big problem for his team since Sahakian is smart enough not to take too many shots and instead focus on doing the dirty work inside and making things happen around him.

A good rebounder, relentless screen-setter, hustler, a fighter and all-around tough cookie defensively, he is the kind of player that coaches just love.

That explains the huge amount of playing time he got in the last two tournaments and it should be the same story again.

What you do get with Sahakian you don’t get to see on a stats line – other than his impressive rebounding numbers.
