Jose Juan Barea made an impact right away with the Puerto Rican National Team when he hit a three-pointer in the final seconds to win the Gold medal at the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games in Cartagena, Colombia.
One year later, he played in the FIBA Americas Championship in Las Vegas and has been a main figure alongside Carlos Arroyo.
In 2008 he was named the MVP of the Centrobasket Championship after leading Puerto Rico to a gold medal.
Currently a key player with the Dallas Mavericks, Barea can play both guard positions because of his great ball handling skills, speed and long range shooting ability.
He will be an important player in the Puerto Rican run-and-gun style offence.
