The 21-year-old Schwethelm is another frontcourt prospect for Germany at this level who has just produced the best season of his career at club level by helping Eisbaeren Bremerhaven into the play-off semi-finals.
Averaging 7 points per game for the team, he has built on the progress and performances he produced at youth level in a Germany shirt.
The best thing about Schwethelm is simply that he has remained a little under the radar and just worked hard to develop his game.
He is possibly the best young German player that nobody really knows too much about, while those who are ‘in the know’ understand that he has several key strengths including a respectable and pretty consistent three-point shot as well as some hard-nosed defence.
He has had some problems with Bauermann at U20 level but could outplay Wysocki.
