Once a cast-off, Tunçeri nowadays is the stabilising force behind Turkey’s delicate balance.

In order to give more playing time to young point guards, he was not invited to the national team in 2006 and 2007 but during this period he improved his game the most and his return has been a blessing.

He is big and strong with his quick feet making him one of the best on-the-ball defenders in Europe.

Turkey’s defense starts with him. He is also an adept passer and prolific at running the pick-and-roll.

Three years spent abroad has done marvels for his game.

He gained in confidence and has a better understanding of the game.

By far the best basketball mind on the court and for a team that loses focus easily, he is the most reliable person to sit at the driver’s seat.
