Russell Westbrook is a prototypical USA guard and an almost ideal fit for Team USA.

Fast and powerful, he also has an ability to defend the length of the floor.

During his second season in the NBA, he averaged 16.1 points, 8.0 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game.

He's growing in the right way alongside Kevin Durant and forming one of the more formidable duos in the league.

A good on-ball defender and rebounder, he’s tremendous to break down defences with his dribble penetration.

He can handle the ball with care but in Turkey, he will probably not be responsible for much of the ball-handling duties.

Actually, it appears Coach K will use Westbrook as more of an off guard who can be just as effective to find his way into the lane and creating for his teammates.

Coach K has said he isn’t looking at point guards solely as the prototypical classification of a point guard but simply as guards.

« I'd rather not say it's a point guard competition, because, say, Rose and Westbrook could play together », Krzyzewski said in July.

« This isn't a chart, where if this guy's picked, this guy's not. I'd rather look at the guards together. »
