During the 2008-09 season, Rudy Fernandez set the record for the most-three pointers made in a rookie season in the NBA with159, but his sophomore year for the Trail Blazers was not that successful, sitting out many games due to a back injury and not being so comfortable with his role in the team.
So Rudy will reach the FIBA World Championship action hungry for playing time and ready to be an important part of a winning team.
Nevertheless, at 25 Rudy is still one of the most exciting players to see in Turkey as he combines unique athleticism with a rare set of skills.
A big dunker and unstoppable on the fast break, he has become a huge long range shooter, not only when open or after picks; he can create his own shot off the dribble. Rudy is a specialist in taking big shots and has made it several times to the Top10 plays of the week in the NBA.
A note for fans of the spectacular: he also competed in the 2009 Slam Dunk contest.
