After years of always being around the fringes of the National Team and having only played at EuroBasket 2005, this could finally be the time for Baris Ermis to show what he is capable of.
He has just enjoyed a great year with Banvit BC in the TBL averaging double digits and crucially dishing up almost 5 assists per game.
This kind of production may have finally convinced Coach Tanjevic that at the age of 25, Ermis is now mature enough to be a part of the team at this level.
For many years he was seen as someone who failed to harness the level of talent he showed in the youth categories.
He was deemed to be utilising his explosiveness and strength with the ball when penetrating ineffectively.
The main criticism was that he was happy to have the ball in his hands far too much.
That cost him court-time with some of the bigger clubs in Turkey but nowadays, his performances and production highlight a guard who has grown-up and is beginning to really find out what is required to be a bona-fide playmaker.
