Jermaine Anderson is in a tough situation with the Canadian National Team because he has been everybody’s second choice after two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash at the point guard spot.

More recently, Anderson has really evolved and shown he is a quality player and with Nash not returning, the role of playmaker is clearly in safe hands.

Anderson, once a shooting guard, is establishing himself as a favourite with fans, which is not surprising considering his impressive pedigree.

He has played in a tough Adriatic League this season as well as in EuroChallenge for Cedevita and produced good quality performances and impressive production.

Entering the tournament at the peak of his career and as energetic as ever, he is adept at taking good care of the ball and pulling the strings, while also a threat from the perimeter.

He can also have an MVP game as his performance against Dominican Republic last year in the FIBA Americas Championship showed, when he fired Canada into the semi-finals with five triples and 21 points, highlighting his potential in big match situations.

Nicknamed ‘Rock’ - this is an apt description of his really solid game.

He will play his basketball in Russia next season after being signed by Triumph Lyubertsy.
