He is the success story of the World Championship.

Because, believe it or not, for the past three seasons, Didier Tapé has been playing in the French “Nationale 3”, which means the… fifth division!

How about that? And, as strange as it might seem, he was the second best scorer for the Elephants at the 2009 Africa Championship (10.4ppg).

He does not have good outside shooting range but he can make shots (three triples against Nigeria).

He does not have any defence splitting moves but just finds ways to go to the bucket – something of a mystery.

“Didier is the toughest, meanest player I ever coached in my career”, Dessarzin says.

“His basketball IQ is questionable, he does not like half-court precise game, he hates playing the zone defence but he is a scorer’s killer and a warrior second to none.

He is ready for any suicide mission.”
