As injuries or poor play kept other centers away, Timofey Mozgov emerged as the only true big man on the National Team during Eurobasket 2009 and he grabbed his opportunity.

Raw and yet exceptionally agile for a player of his size, Mozgov started to amass points and rebounds, and came out of the tournament as one of the most intriguing prospects in Europe.

However, the past season in Khimki can be summed up as a disappointment.

Expected to improve after a confidence-booster like this, Mozgov’s production actually dropped.

A change of the club’s coach and point guards may be the reason, as Mozgov never had the skills to consistently create his own shot.

In this case, there is still hope that he will deliver again upon return to the environment that made him so successful in the past.
