Andrew Albicy is the biggest surprise in the French roster this summer.
Born and raised in the neighbourhoods of Paris, Andrew has grown up with the Paris Basket Racing (now Paris-Levallois) Youth teams.
He is a short but lighting quick point guard capable of putting incredible pressure on the ball. He had a decent season in Pro A last year, although nothing fancy: 4.5 points and 3.6 assists per game, playing behind Jimmal Ball.
But as Antoine Diot last year, who blossomed in the 2009 EuroBasket right after a great performance at the U20 European Championship, Albicy was called in early August to replace Beaubois after being named MVP of the same U20 EuroBasket.
In Croatia, in July, Andrew surprised European basketball observers, averaging 12.3 points and 5.9 assists per game while being the offensive and defensive leader of a French team that went all the way to the Gold medal.
With the seniors, Andrew will lack experience at that level but could make the team and bring very intense defensive sequences backing up De Colo and Bokolo.
