Last year, his primary goal was not to play for the Elephants at the FIBA Africa Championship but, this year, Coach Dessarzin convinced him for Turkey.
Assié is not very famous in Ivory Coast, since, after graduating in NCAA3 (where he was a 20ppg and 9rpg player), he opted for modest and exotic leagues (Finland, Argentina).
“He is a rebounding specialist”, Dessarzin says.
“He can really do a lot of damage on the boards, especially on the offensive end.”
He can do a lot of things in addition to rebounding.
He can handle the ball and, occasionally, fire in the perimeter, but his natural position is the power forward one, where he is able either to outmuscle his opponent or out-speed him with quick post-up moves.
